For this edition of the Lyon Biennial, curators Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath have put together a “Manifesto of Fragility”, which proposes that invited∙e∙s artists in turn express their sensitivity to the world around them and their desire for resistance in a present day hampered by the pandemic and its consequences.
“With vivid colors and a raw, almost tactile, cinematic use of light, Lucile Boiron's photographs confront the public with the painful intimacy of the photographic process. She captures her images when the space between photographer and subject - a woman's body, a decomposing fruit - is least perceptible. She isolates and removes almost imperceptible micro-moments with surgical precision, then grafts them onto reality to provoke a new approach to birth, decomposition, life and death. By adopting the artist's point of view, the viewer perceives the subjects of her photographs in those moments when boundaries blur, in a new closeness.”
